Lovington schools prohibit facial hair

Jun. 11--LOVINGTON, N.M. -- Students in Lovington's junior high and high schools will be prohibited from growing sideburns below earlobes or mustaches.

The city's school board Tuesday night approved a dress code requiring the students to be clean-shaven.

Students also will be prohibited from wearing hats or bandanas inside school buildings. Saggy pants or shorts also will not be allowed.

Board President Lynda McGinnes said students will perform better when more is expected of them.

The Hobbs Public School Board voted Jan. 22 to maintain a student dress code that requires students to be clean-shaven.  -----
